Chris Elise

Chris Elise was a French-born professional photographer who independently covered major sports events around the world. Having regularly worked with major photo agencies in Europe and in the USA, his work has been published internationally. He spent 16 years photographing the NBA (including 2009 Finals, 2011 Playoffs, 2012 NBA Finals and Playoffs). Based in Franklin, TN and working all around the world, Chris Elise has shot sports on four continents. He became a U.S. citizen in 2021. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Sports photographer Chris Elise has been covering the NBA for 16 years. When basketball players started kneeling for the national anthem and Black Lives Matter slogans were written on NBA courts, it went against everything Chris knew to be true about America. He was an immigrant that came to this country and proved that anyone from anywhere, regardless of your race or background, can make it in America.
